SIENOX SIE-BM1000 planetary ball mill is designed for pilot tests and small-batch production. Four 1000mL grinding jars are mounted on one turntable. With 300rpm revolution speed and 600rpm rotation speed, the balls inside jars grind and mix samples at high velocity. It supports both dry and wet milling, achieving particle size as fine as 0.1μm. Four parallel experiments can be finished in one batch loading.

SIE-BM1000 adopts a programmable touch LCD screen. It supports forward/reverse cycling, interval operation, timed operation and data storage. Multiple milling cycles run automatically after one setup. Powered by a 1.5KW motor and built on a solid 150kg frame, it delivers stable long-duration operation. Suitable for pilot scale-up and small-batch production in lithium battery materials, ceramic powder, metallurgy, building materials, chemical industry and other fields.

Why Pilot-scale Ball Milling Is Required

When scaling up from lab to pilot stage, sample throughput and batch consistency are keys to scale-up.

Lithium Battery Material Pilot Test

Scaling up from gram-scale lab tests to kilogram-level pilot trials requires larger-capacity milling equipment for process validation. Equipped with four 1000mL jars, SIE-BM1000 meets formulation scale-up demands. Zirconia or agate jars prevent metal ion contamination and ensure repeatable pilot data.

Batch Trial of Ceramic Powder

MLCC dielectric powder and structural ceramic powder need larger batches at pilot stage to evaluate forming, sintering and electrical properties. Four jars of SIE-BM1000 can mill different formulations simultaneously. Parallel comparison tests are completed in small trial batches, and multi-material jars avoid cross-contamination.

Metallurgy & Building Material Pilot Test

Metal powder, ore powder and building material raw materials need stable continuous milling during process scale-up. With 1.5KW driving power and a solid 150kg frame, SIE-BM1000 supports long continuous operation to satisfy batch milling requirements in pilot workshops.

Dual Ultra-fine Grinding with Impact & Shear Force

Material pulverization and grinding are mainly achieved by high-speed friction and collision between grinding balls. With 300rpm revolution and 600rpm rotation speed, as the main disc rotates, the grinding jars loaded with samples and balls spin in the opposite direction around their own axes. The grinding balls shuttle rapidly inside jars and further crush samples by hitting jar walls and rubbing against each other. The minimum particle size of ground materials reaches 0.1μm, meeting fineness requirements for pilot tests and small-batch production.

Synchronous 4 Jars for High Batch Milling Efficiency

Four 1000mL grinding jars are mounted on one turntable. Four groups of grinding tasks can be completed in one run, greatly improving sample processing efficiency at the pilot stage. The four jars can grind the same material simultaneously to increase output, or grind different formulas separately for parallel comparison. Each jar is independently sealed without cross-contamination.

Programmable Control for Stable Long-duration Operation

Equipped with programmable LCD touch screen, it supports forward-reverse alternating operation, interval operation, timed operation and data storage, with 120 freely settable programs. Alternating forward and reverse rotation prevents one-way material accumulation, and interval operation controls temperature rise during grinding. With 1.5KW driving power and a sturdy 150kg body, it supports long-term continuous operation.

Working Principle

Based on planetary motion principle

SIENOX SIE-BM1000 operates based on the planetary motion principle. Grinding jars are mounted on the main disc (sun wheel). While the main disc revolves around the central axis, the grinding jars rotate rapidly on their own axes in the opposite direction. Revolution speed: 300rpm, rotation speed: 600rpm.

 

Under this compound motion, the grinding media (balls) inside the jar are subjected to two alternating forces:

Impact Force: The balls are thrown during high-speed movement and deliver strong impact on samples to break coarse particles.

Friction & Shear Force: High-frequency friction and shear occur between balls and between balls and jar walls to grind and disperse fine particles.


When the centrifugal acceleration generated by revolution exceeds the critical value, balls are pressed against the jar wall and rotate together with the vessel without effective grinding. Therefore, proper speed setting and transmission ratio design are critical to grinding efficiency. With optimized transmission ratios, SIENOX ensures proper centrifugal acceleration within the valid speed range for high-efficiency milling.


Typical Grinding Parameters for Reference:

Sample Loading: ≤ 2/3 of jar volume (including grinding media and sample)

Media Filling Ratio: Usually 1/3 to 1/2 of jar volume

Typical Milling Time: 5–60 minutes (depends on material hardness and target fineness)

Final Output Fineness: Down to 0.1μm (depends on sample material, milling parameters and media selection)
