【Interview】How SIENOX Stirring and Defoaming Technology Reshapes Automotive Bonding Processes
date:2026-09-17author:小施——Interview with Li Baiming, R&D Director of SIENOX Technology
In the battery assembly workshop of a mega automobile factory in Shanghai, 32 fully automatic vacuum stirring and defoaming machines control the preparation of structural adhesives with a viscosity error of 0.005%. More than 2,000 kilometers away at a new energy vehicle base in Changchun, SIENOX’s 5th-generation vacuum defoaming system has reduced the adhesive bonding defect rate of a vehicle model from 1.2% to 0.15%. Behind these figures lies Guangzhou SIENOX Technology Co., Ltd.’s continuous dedication to adhesive processing. We have specially invited Li Baiming, the company’s R&D Director, to interpret how this invisible technology underpins the quality revolution in modern automobile manufacturing.

Q1: What technological transformations are taking place in adhesive applications for automobile manufacturing?
Li Baiming: A decade ago, the adhesive consumption per vehicle was approximately 15 kilograms. Today, high-end electric vehicles consume over 45 kilograms. From traditional glass sealing to structural bonding of battery packs, adhesives have evolved from "auxiliary materials" into "core structural components". This brings three major challenges to adhesive processing: first, uniform dispersion of nano-scale fillers; second, zero residual bubbles during processing; third, millisecond-level response coordination with automated production lines. These serve as the baseline for SIENOX equipment development.
Q2: How does your equipment address the special demands of the automotive industry?
Li Baiming: Take the customized SIENOX-MIX Plus mixing and defoaming system we developed for a German automaker as an example. Its three core technologies directly tackle industry pain points:
1. Synchronous revolution and rotation technology for planetary motion structure: The combined effect of "vacuum negative pressure + dynamic stirring" boosts the dispersion uniformity of carbon fiber-reinforced adhesives up to 99.7%, guaranteeing the energy absorption efficiency of structural adhesives during collisions.
2. Dynamic vacuum defoaming algorithm: It controls the gas content of 80,000 cps viscosity epoxy adhesive below 0.01% within 90 seconds, 40% faster than the industry standard.
3. Intelligent manufacturing control system: It seamlessly connects with customers’ MES systems to realize 360° quality traceability for each batch of adhesives.

Q3: Could you share a specific application case?
Li Baiming: In a lithium iron phosphate battery project of BYD, our equipment solved the packaging challenge for extra-long 1.2-meter battery cells. Local viscosity deviation caused by traditional stirring processes would lead to glue layer thickness difference of 0.03 mm. Our gradient defoaming system combined with adaptive temperature control limits thickness fluctuation to ±0.005 mm, helping the customer raise the air tightness qualification rate of battery packs to 99.93%.
Q4: What is your view on new requirements for bonding technology brought by new energy vehicles?
Li Baiming: The 800V high-voltage platform and CTC chassis integration trend are rewriting industry standards. We are developing high-temperature resistant stirring modules that can operate continuously under 180℃ to ensure stable performance of silicon carbide thermal conductive adhesives. The fully sealed stirring system developed for solid-state batteries enables the preparation of nano silver adhesive under an oxygen level below 10 ppm. These technologies are being gradually conquered.
When asked about the technical vision, Li Baiming displayed an AI visual inspection module under test: "We are integrating spectral analysis technology into stirring systems. In the future, the equipment can not only process adhesives but also judge the chemical state of colloids in real time. Just as our brand philosophy — Partner with Sienox, Experience Industrial Excellence. We expect to redefine the industry standard of 'bonding reliability' through technological innovation."
From traditional workshops to smart factories, SIENOX has improved the precision of stirring and defoaming machines by two orders of magnitude over more than a decade. On this invisible battlefield, Chinese intelligent manufacturing is quietly reshaping the quality dimension of global automobile manufacturing through breakthroughs of every 0.01%.
